FAQs for Vendors

Please remember this is an all-vegan, cruelty-free festival, so we ask that you refrain from eating non-vegan foods while working in your booth. We want to promote a compassionate way of life, and nothing defeats this ideal quite like seeing a vendor tearing into some spare ribs or gobbling a McDonald's cheeseburger. (And, naturally, no fur caps or jackets!) Thank you for your cooperation.

 

Where will St. Louis VegFest 2019 be located, and how do I get there?

(Note: The Forest Park Trolley does not operate in fall and winter, so we will not be able to use this as transportation to the Pavilion.)

 

Is there a map of the festival grounds, so I can see where everything is, including my booth?

What are the hours of operation?

Festival hours are 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

When can I set up my booth?

Vendor set-up begins at 8:00 am and ends at 10:30 am. All booths must be set up by 10:30 am. Please do not arrive earlier than 8:00 am. We cannot block streets, and vendors arriving prior to this time will impede street traffic while waiting to unload at 8:00 am.

What about tents?

Vendors are responsible for bringing their own tents, if they wish to use one. Please be sure yours is no larger than 10 x 10. For safety, all tents must be weighted. Per Forest Park regulations, no stakes may be inserted into the World's Fair Pavilion grounds.

 

How big is my booth space?

Booth spots are the standard 10 x 10' (unless you purchased a 10 x 20' space), with a few additional feet behind for storing supplies. We will give you as much extra space as possible, but please plan to stay as close to this measurement as you can. We have over 70 vendors, so it is important for everyone to stay within their designated space.

 

Do I need to (or can I) bring tables?

We will provide one 8' table and two chairs for each booth. You may bring additional tables if needed, but please do not exceed your booth space, and be sure to put identification on your table(s). We don't want to accidentally pack up your table(s) at the end.

 

​Do I provide my own signage?

Yes, you are responsible for and may bring whatever signage you like, as long as it does not interfere with the booths around you. If you have a sign or banner outside your tent on the grass, it cannot be staked into the ground. Per Forest Park regulations, no stakes may be inserted into the World's Fair Pavilion grounds. Food vendors will also receive one 12 x 18" sheet of tagboard and a black permanent marker for listing their food items, along with safety pins for attaching to the front of the tent. We want those in line to be able to see food offerings ahead of time, in order to speed up the lines.

 

Will vendors have access to water and ice?

While there is emergency water in the back room of the Pavilion, food vendors will not be allowed access to this area. Space is too limited for so many vendors to use the Pavilion water and sinks. In addition, some food vendors clogged the sinks last year, which made clean-up very difficult for us. We will have a water wagon near the cinder parking lot on the south side of the Pavilion. There is also a water fountain near the cinder parking lot on the north side of the Pavilion. We encourage all food vendors to bring as much of their own water as possible, however. Keep in mind, if you are preparing food onsite or serving open food, you will need water for hand-washing and dish-washing. Be familiar with these requirements.  Ice is strictly up to the individual vendors.

 

Will you have recycling and composting at the event?

We will have separate recycling and trash bins, provided by Republic Services, available for both vendors and visitors. There will also be attendants to help properly dispose of the separate waste. Unfortunately, compost disposal is cost-prohibitive at this time. We hope to be able to add this feature to St. Louis VegFest in the next couple of years.

  

What if I have oil disposal needs?

We do not have provisions for hot oil disposal, so any vendors doing deep fat frying will be responsible for their own oil disposal. We cannot stress this enough: Please do NOT put oil in trash bins. Last year a food vendor disposed of oil in this manner, and it was a nightmare to clean up. Please be considerate of others and of the beautiful park grounds.

 

Can I bring my dog?

You can, but be sure to bring water and waste bags. (We will have some water bowls and bags available, should anyone forget to bring their own, but we strongly encourage individual responsibility.) The only real exception is pets are not allowed in food booths. Health regulations prohibit animals (other than certified service animals) from areas around food preparation. If you do choose to bring your dog, be sure to pick up any waste, and never leave him or her in the car.
